Music w/ Quincy Hartman

This shoot began with a simple idea: music notes suspended in midair around a musician. When I learned Quincy played the cello, the concept immediately felt right, and discovering she also had an electric guitar made it even better. She’s a true rockstar.

To bring the idea to life, my mom, who loves a good craft project, helped me cut out each of the music notes. I hung them one by one with fishing line in the studio, creating the floating effect you see in the images. Aside from removing the fishing line in the editing stage, there was no other digital trickery involved; what you see is exactly what was created in the room.
